JOURNEY Summer Camp 2019
We’re Going to Summer Camp!
The past two summers we decided to stay in town for our Staycation. This year, we’re going back to camp!
That’s right we will be taking approximately 100 of our students to Journey Camp. This is an incredible camp that is located in Toccoa Falls, in Georgia on the campus of Toccoa Falls Christian College. This campus provides the perfect setting for an unforgettable Summer Camp experience with all of the great ingredients to create a life changing time in the life of your student: high energy Worship Sessions, impactful teaching from God’s Word and loads of fun and outdoor activities!

- Summer Camp will take place the week after VBS – Mon, June 24th – Fri, June 28th.
- Cost for camp is $299 per student and this includes
- transportation from Mt. Horeb
- all meals (11 total)
- program sessions (Incredible Communicators and Passionate Worship)
- on campus recreation (Archery Tag, Laser Tag, Bubble Ball Soccer, etc..)
- off campus recreation (Tubing on Lake Hartnell and Tallulah Gorge State Park)

Teaching…
The main session will be taught primarily by Nathan Smith who is now a household name in our Student Ministry. Nathan was the speaker of our Staycation last summer and has been with our middle schoolers twice this semester once as a standalone speaker for Bring Your Friend Night and as a host of our free Laser Tag night.
Our students enjoy his teaching and appreciate both his Biblical knowledge as well as his humorous story telling.
Some nights of camp will be taught by guest speakers to offer a little bit of variety as well.
There will also be options for student to select 2 topics out of a list of 5 or so topics for breakouts for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday’s breakout will separate guys and girls to encourage them to issues specific to their gender.
FUN…
Journey Camp offers a ton of fun activities.
There are Athletic activities like Archery Tag, Soccer, Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, Laser Tag, Bubble Ball Soccer, Volleyball, Dodgeball and Sport Tournaments will take place both indoors and outdoors.
You can also enjoy some more Recreational fun like a Swimming Pond, Hiking Trails with Waterfalls and additional Swimming Holes, a one of a kind Sling-shot Slip n’Slide, Team Challenges, Art Classes and even a Water Fall on the campus itself!
There is also the option to take a smaller group to Talulah Gorge State Park which is about a 20 minute drive from Toccoa Falls College. The Park is renown for the waterfalls that span the gorge and the refreshing swimming hole with a Sliding Rock on the gorge floor. The hike is strenuous (like seriously!).
Additionally we will offer Lake Days on Hartwell Lake and these will include tubing, water skiing, wake boarding, and knee boarding with ski instructors that the camp will provide.
Middle School and High School…
As most are aware, it is a policy of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church to not mix Middle School and High School students for events unless proper approval has been granted.
As a student ministry we feel that combining our team and efforts for certain large events is a win. Just like with Staycation last year we have received proper approval to combine this event.
We will, however, continue to observe certain precautions to help keep the two groups functioning as separate. 6-8 graders will be in separate vehicles for travel than 9-12 graders. There will be separate sleeping accommodations and separate small groups.
